Reflecting on the Election
It has been almost 3 weeks since America elected a new President, and the aftermath is beginning to unfold. Immediately after the election, there was a wave of fear throughout the nation, combined with a wave of misogynistic and racist behavior that felt briefly validated. Many people protested, both peacefully, and in a destructive and violent way. Now, that has become less common, and we are more in a state of fearfully watching, waiting to see how this will go. In Trump's 100 days, nobody is sure what may happen. He has begun electing officials who are against many of the things that democrats have been working for a long time. His new head of the EPA is someone who does not believe in climate change. The woman he is looking to be in charge of education is opposed to public schools and greatly supports for-profit Christian schools. These are worrying, and all we can do is watch and wait, and hope that this goes well.

It is intriguing that he has indeed, in some ways, revived the archaic misogynistic behaviors of the past. As far as his first 100 days go, you think he will actually build a wall?
ReplyDeleteNo, I think that he will begin to lessen his extreme stand on a lot of these issues.
DeleteDespite many lacks in his personal behavior, as president of the United States, we should hope that he is successful. As President Obama said, "We are now all rooting for his success" Until the 4 years are over, hopefully you can distract yourself with Biden memes.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a good position to take on the issue. The election is over; America picked its president. Whether or not we liked him as a candidate, we should all be hopeful that he does his job well.
DeleteI completely agree with you Paige. Now that the election is over we as people cannot change what have happened and now we need to wait and watch and realize that even though things might have gone the way we wanted we can't go back and change it. We need to hope that everything goes well and things get brought to the attention and we need to believe that something good might come out of this.
