Cycle of Music
In class today, we watched a documentary about the history of music and it always seemed like the phrase "what is wrong with music these days?" is always heard from people of the previous generation. Grandparents say it about the music our parents listen to, and our parents say it about ours. The real question is why this is the case? I think that this is because we grow up with certain music, it becomes a part of our culture: inspiring us, motivates us, comforts us, etc. The reason that new music is hard to get used to is that we tend to not associate ourselves with things that we aren't used to and things that make us feel uneasy. But if history taught me anything, it is that a closed mindset always leads to unnecessary fighting. Thoughts?
